These poems are from a larger series of poems that were written using the Notes app on my cellphone. The composition process was part game and part exercise into the materiality of language, sound, space, and meaning-making. By using a device that drives distraction and impulse, that encourages an endless scroll of information and content, these poems attempt to capture temporary states of observation that would otherwise disappear or slowly seep/leak into the next cool thing. I’m interested in poems that combine the acoustics and fuzzy transparencies of language with the odd, often playful, and always half-understood episodes found within the day-to-day.
